Clonal hematopoiesis and hematologic cancer

We study how hematopoietic clones originate, evolve, and lead to cancer. Clonal hematopoiesis (CH), characterized by the presence of cancer driver genetic variations in peripheral blood, is common in the elderly population. Presence of CH is associated with a higher risk of hematologic cancer and non-malignant age-related diseases (e.g., cardiovascular diseases). Using large-scale genomic datasets, we aim to uncover mechanisms underlying CH initiation and evolution which will enable stratify CH-associated risk.
